Every year the Selection Committee has a hard time, when it comes down to making the final selection of projects. There is a number of diverse criteria, that together has to be looked carefully at. Due to the overwhelmingly many strong and eligible submissions this year, the committee has decided to break the rule of 24 and selected no less than 27 projects to Pitch. Among these producers are first time selected countries: Canada and Egypt. Hungary, Ukraine, Croatia, Slovenia and Czech Republic have slightly increased their number of submissions and we are happy to also find them on the list.  As we have a focus on Finland, the selection holds a bunch of Finnish projects plus a French/Finnish co-production – and then you will find projects from Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Congratulations to all the selected Producers! You can find the list of the record breaking number of projects to Pitch in Malmö here: Official Selection 2019 !

Los Bando is a crazy road movie about a young band from Norway, Los Bando Immortale. The band set out on a journey across the country to attend the National Championship of Rock in a race against time, the police and their parents. Directed by Christian Lo.

Los Bando’s Producer, Nicholas Sando is a regular guest at The Forum, and is in 2019 selected for to pitch Filmbin’s new project “Jenny’s Time”!

Nicholas says"The Financing Forum in Malmö is one of the most important venues for us, who produce content for kids and youth. Filmbin has attended this forum since 2012, and this is where we've pitched our previously films such as Though guys and Los Bando. The Financing forum is a great place to meet financiers and potential co- producers. This year we will be back to present our new project - Jenny's Time"

Since Los Bando's international premiere in the Generation section at the Berlinale, the film has been sold to 13 countries: Belgium, The Netherlands, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Sweden.

It has screened in 15 countries and won 16 prices on festivals, such as main prize of the Children*s jury for the best feature film for children at Zlin Film Festival 2018, 1st Prize of the Children's Jury at Tel Aviv International Children's Film Festival 2018, COMIX AWARD at Giffoni Film Festival, Italy 2018 and Best Children's Film of the festival from the Children's Jury at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival – Just Film and Audience Award at Cinekid, Amsterdam. The film has been nominated to an ECFA, with the ceremony held in Berlin on the 9th of February.  It is also the Norwegian film, which has won the most international prizes on film festivals in 2018.

BERLINALE MEETING POINT: Audience Thinking – Co-Creation
In cooperation with The Financing Forum for Kids Content this year’s Berlinale Meeting Point will focus on the process of Co-Creation with the young target audience.

Inspired by the results of the 1st German Conference on the Future of Children’s Film in September 2018 and the ongoing commitment of the KIDS Regio community we will specifically focus this year’s Meeting Point and Opening Industry Day on the engagement of the young target group throughout the whole creational process of media content. To introduce the Topic we invited experts to speak about the theoretical background of the steps of co-creation as well as about their practical experiences.
Join this event to get a kick-start for the 2019 Opening Industry Day
